This is the very first question I ask all my clients. Then I take that feeling and translate it through color, history and objects. We start with the pieces they already treasure, then build outward with furnishings sourced secondhand wherever possible, a habit rooted in the low carbon principles that have guided my design practice since day one. Many of the people I work with live in the diaspora and long to stay close to their culture, which we honor with carefully chosen artwork, textiles, ceramics and furniture. The magic lies in weaving them together until the result is considered, cohesive and meaningful.
